Innsbruck with the first special toilet
Austria’s first “Changing Place” opened in Innsbruck on April 21, 2025. These are accessible toilets equipped with a ceiling hoist and a changing table. This new “Changing Place” was even equipped with the timkid Lift HIIWI and the KAWA HPL wall-mounted changing table!
In the UK, “Changing Places” are already standard equipment in many places. Since 2021, the installation of such toilets has been mandatory for public buildings with a capacity of more than 350 people.
In Germany, too, there have been increasing initiatives to install “Changing Places” toilets in recent years – most recently in Munich.
Open 24/7
The restroom facility for people with severe disabilities and their caregivers is equipped with a ceiling hoist system as well as a height-adjustable table and toilet. An accessible shower is also integrated. The room is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a Eurokey. This is available to all holders of a disability pass upon application.
“Changing Places” are used by people with multiple disabilities, high spinal cord injuries, muscle and nerve disorders, and multiple sclerosis, for example.
